We had a Working Party on Saturday morning to extend the gridded paths. There were just 6 of us on this occasion. On the short journey from Gansey to Ballachurry the large hot water flask leaked and ruined the cake a member had so kindly made for our break! To top it all the heavens opened! Were we deterred? Not a jot! We extended the path in two places and will finish the job next time. We now await some aggregate to fill the grids.
The Grasshopper Warbler sang to us throughout the morning and was still singing when I left at 1.10. I also saw the following during the morning:
SC209694 Willow Warbler
SC209695 Willow Warbler
Sc209694 Grasshopper Warbler
SC208694 Sedge Warbler
SC209694 Goldfinch
SC209694 Great Tits x 2
SC209694 Wren
SC210694 Sparrow x 2

Can you spot the Grasshopper Warbler? |
On Sunday afternoon (8th May) I went down briefly to post a notice on the board. It was strangely quiet despite the lovely sunshine. No sign of the Grasshopper Warbler but, I'm glad to say, a friend heard it singing later that evening. I took the opportunity to photograph the Shieldbug eggs at SC208694. There was also a Willow Warbler at SC209694 and a pair of Oulema melanopus beetles mating. I also noted a Sedge Warbler calling from the reed bed,SC208694, saw a Mallard on the pond SC209694, a Goldfinch was at SC209695 and near Ginny's bench SC209694 there were 2 x Small Tortoiseshell Butterflies + 2 unidentified White Butterflies flying. Another Willow Warbler was at SC208695.
