Ballachurry Reserve, 14th & 15th May 2019

For one reason or another I hadn't been able to visit the Reserve since 2nd May, so was very pleased to be able to visit on Tuesday on such a sunny day. I had an hour and a half at my disposal but it took me half an hour to walk from the gate to the Noticeboard! Here is what I recorded:

Birds:

SC210694 male Chaffinch; Great Tit flying over; Willow Warbler heard but not seen.
SC209693 2 x Swifts wheeling over head; male Blackbird.
SC209694 Goldfinch; Willow Warbler both singing and preening.
SC209693 Sedge Warbler heard from reed bed but not seen.
SC208694 2 x Goldfinch.
SC209694 Sedge Warbler heard from in front of hide and also from vegetation at back of pond. Unable to see either.  Moorhen + 2 chicks.
SC208694 Chiffchaff heard but not seen; Chaffinch heard but not seen.
SC208694 Sedge warbler in Blackthorn bush
SC209695 Chaffinch; family of 6 (approx.) Long Tailed Tits; Chiffchaff heard but not seen
SC208695 2 x Great Tit; Whitethroat heard in Sycamore but not seen.
SC209694 Willow Warbler heard but not seen; Dunnock with caterpillar; Blackbird.
SC210694 Wren; Goldfinch; Raptor mobbed by Corvid overhead.

Wednesday, 15th May 2019.

Back at the Reserve today to do some small maintenance jobs : Sedge Warblers seemingly everywhere, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff too. Male Orange Tip butterflies at SC210694, SC208694, SC208695 & 2 together at SC209694. Female Orange Tip on foodplant  under Notice Board and nectaring on Herb Robert too.I didn't stop to count the Ladybirds but there were still plenty about.
