a rare sunny moment on Thursday
|
It was spotting with rain as I arrived at the Reserve on Thursday morning but it blew over very quickly. I saw a few more birds this visit but fewer insects, which was hardly surprising given the dull, cloudy weather. The sun did come out from time to time but there were no prolonged sunny spells during the morning. Although I enjoyed the visit, I was disappointed to see three large piles of dog mess along the paths ( last week too) Someone is flouting the "no dogs" regulation and not even bothering to clear up after their pet either. There was a group of Special Needs children on the reserve last week and a parent with a pre-schooler today, all running the risk of treading in it. It is also potentially very unpleasant for the contractor doing the mowing. There was also drug-related graffiti in the hide today, something that's not been a problem since Police intervention earlier this year.
Here is what I recorded:
Birds:
SC209693 Robin heard not seen.
SC209694 2 x Blackbirds in the willow at the path junction; 2 Blackbirds in Rowan near new pond.
