After a week of stormy weather, our Saturday Work Party was blessed with calmer conditions and at around 11.15 ( tea break time!) the sun actually broke through the clouds and bathed the Reserve in sunshine.
13 Volunteers were kept busy with a variety of tasks - cutting back 12 months' bramble growth in certain areas, adding additional screws to the anti-slip strips on the boardwalk, and moving a pile of hardcore from the entrance area to the boardwalk where it was put to good use by Ian to form the foundations for the next section of timber.
As the sun finally broke through we all headed for the Hide for a refreshing break. Today we were offered a choice of no less than 4 types of home made cakes! Revived by these, we continued working hard to get the jobs done before lunch time. Then it was time to head home after an excellent morning of sociable team work.
Here are a few photos of today's efforts:

As always we noted some wildlife while working:
Robin seen in two locations; female Chaffinch; Buzzard ; 3 x Red Admiral butterflies. small flock of Starlings flying over.
We look forward to meeting up again next month - new volunteers are always made welcome!
