It had been some time since I was able to attend a Work Party at Ballachurry Reserve, but finally I joined 16 other volunteers there on Saturday. Although several tasks had been planned for the morning, a recent delivery of woodchip meant that the priority was to spread this along the paths. Soon there was a procession of barrows to-ing and fro-ing. The old adage of "many hands make light work" certainly proved true and by 11 a.m. the task was completed and it was time for a welcome tea break. Many thanks to those who provided cake which was very much appreciated. It's always pleasant to sit in the winter sunshine chatting with friends old and new but duty called and there were still other jobs to be done. Here are a selection of photos from the morning:

Meanwhile others were digging out encroaching Blackthorn, excess Stinking Iris and pruning back the brambles, as well as other necessary jobs.
