Rather different weather from the blue skies of last week's Work Party |
Having listened to the weather forecast for the week, the options seemed to be sunny with gale force winds or mild & gloomy with light winds. So I chose today. Gloomy it certainly was. Even at 1.30 the light levels were poor but there did seem to be some birds flitting about and I soon had a page full of notes:
Birds:

SC209694 ( hide) male and female Blackbird; 2 x Great Tit; male Chaffinch; Goldfinch; Wren heard but not seen; Robin; male Pheasant; 2 x Wood Pigeon;
SC208694 ( Willows) 3 x Chaffinch; Great Tit; female Blackbird; Blue Tit; 10 x Goldfinch
SC208694 ( compost) Blackbird; Wren; 2 x Goldcrest;
SC208694 ( boardwalk) Robin; 2 x Blue Tit; male Blackbird; Ring Tail Hen Harrier flying over low ;
SC209694 ( gorse boundary) Great Tit; Redwing
SC208694 ( reed bed) Water Rail heard on 2 occasions but not seen
SC210694 Hooded Crow sitting on the roof of Old School House, next door
Other:
SC208694 Fungi continue to proliferate on the compost heap nearest the dam. I have taken one specimen to try to identify it from a spore print.
