Ballachurry Reserve, 4th September 2020.

I called in the reserve very briefly on Friday afternoon to drop off the bottles of water for wellie-washing at  Saturday's work party + to assess which brambles most needed attention. This was quite a depressing visit as near the hide some unthinking and anti-social people had discarded two plastic bags of rubbish. As well as looking unsightly, litter is a danger to wildlife. We volunteers work so hard to keep the reserve as a pleasant place for people to enjoy only to have this sort of behavior ruin our efforts at a stroke. I do report such incidents to the Police, who take the matter very seriously.

both bags were full of rubbish

I hadn't planned to walk round the reserve but thought perhaps I should to see what else had been discarded. Seeing a Speckled Wood butterfly feasting on berries ( it's not just birds who like them) and a good patch of fungi on the path went a little way to cheering me up but what sad, sad people these litter louts must be.
