Ballachurry Reserve, 12th November 2020.

Winter sunshine

 Nine thirty was an early start for me at Ballachurry! The weather was reasonable on Thursday in an otherwise windy and often wet week so I made the most of it and headed off down there with binoculars, camera and notebook. Here is what I saw:

Birds:

SC209694  2 x Robin together; Magpie flying over; Goldfinch; Great Tit; Chaffinch; Blackbird.

SC208694 Male Chaffinch; Blue Tit; Robin; Wren; 2 x Chough flying over calling;

SC210694   Wren

Ladybirds:

SC209694 7x Spot in gorse

Fungi:

SC208694 Pipe fungus on fallen twigs; very small unidentified white fungi on Alder trunk and with Pipe fungi; unidentified fungi along meadowside path;

SC209694 Haresfoot Ink caps along path

SC210694 a veritable forest of small brown capped fungi near the gate

Other:

SC209695 Honey bee on gorse flowers

SC210694 many flies and bees enjoying the ivy flowers including Eristalis tenax, Muscid species  and Noon flies.

SC208694 dead long tail in the meadow area ( will spare you the rather gory photo!)

These little brown toadstools are everywhere near the gate

Haresfoot Inkcaps seem prone to falling over

These are along the path by the damp meadow

 some of the pipes are open ended

These little white fungi were also on the base of the Alder nearby

Campion still in bloom

 Damp Meadow is an understatement!

at first sight the ivy seemed quiet enough...

but closer inspection showed it was buzzing with insects

Eristalis tenax hoverflies

 bee with full pollen sacks

unidentified  Muscid fly

 Eristalis tenax again

Despite seeing 9 species of bird I only managed to photograph one Robin - must try harder!
