Sunset from Ballachurry Reserve
|
On Wednesday afternoon I was back at the Reserve once more. This was no recording visit however. Instead we had volunteer, Dessie Robinson, on site to strim the area designated for the new dragonfly/pond dipping pool. I like to record the history of Ballachurry Reserve so include a few photos here for posterity. Many thanks to Dessie for giving up his time to do this for us. Later a couple of us from the committee, having helped Dessie to rake off the cut grass, marked out the rough shape of the pond to be. Next step is to excavate the pond itself. Of course I couldn't resist a walk round the reserve before going home, although the sun was starting to set by now. There were lots of "garden" birds flitting around but the light was generally too poor for photography and there was no sign of the Water Rail, although dusk is supposed to be a good time to see this species. Here is what I recorded before heading home for tea.
SC208694 2 x Great Tit; 2 x Blue Tit; Dunnock; Blackbird
SC209694 Robin; 2 x Coal Tit; Long Tailed Tit; 2 x Blue Tit; Chaffinch.
