Lunchtime visit, Ballachurry Reserve.

I was just about to make my lunch on Wednesday when my husband pointed out the fog had lifted and suggested a quick walk around Ballachurry Reserve. I grabbed my binoculars and camera and we enjoyed a sunny walk around the Reserve. Of course there is no such thing as a quick walk around Ballachurry and our lunch was rather late! Here's what we saw/heard:

the bird watcher

he was looking at Willow Warblers

This one elsewhere was probably a Chiffchaff

Willow Warblers and Chiffchaffs can be hard to tell apart if not singing

This one was singing, so definitely a Chiffchaff

Robin

Mallard Duck with 7 ducklings

Roll Call

we have at least two Mallard families on the Reserve

primroses in full bloom

Hawthorn Shieldbug on Rowan

Three Green Bottle flies enjoying the sunshine (Eudasyphora cyanella)

we were interested to look at progress on the new boardwalk

seen from the site of the old bridge

a  good start had been made on the carpentry

looking back to where the bridge used to be

a final glance at the hide then home for lunch

I didn't have time to hunt for Ladybirds etc. but hope to do a full recording visit after Easter.
