Ballachurry Reserve, 9th February, 2023

February at Ballachurry Reserve
 At 09.30 on Thursday morning the temperature at Ballachurry Reserve was just 7 degrees, but it was bright and sunny and I was looking forward to my visit. When I left at lunch time it was just one degree higher and still a beautiful winter's day. Here is what I recorded:

Birds:

SC210694 Heron flying over; 2 x Blackbirds together ( male and female)  Robin, surveying the road; 4 x Jackdaw.

SC209694 ( Hide) Blue Tit; 2 x Mallard ( male and female);  Moorhen; Great Tit directly outside hide door, calling ( answering call from SC208694); 

SC209694 ( elsewhere) female Blackbird; Woodpigeon and Great Tit flying over;  male Blackbird; Magpie heard not seen; Robin. Chaffinch heard not seen.

SC208694 6 x Woodpigeons flying over; male Blackbird flying over low; Robin; Blue Tit x 2; Pheasant heard not seen;   female Blackbird; single Long-Tailed tit then two together later and finally flock of 6; Wren; 2 x Goldfinch.

SC209695 male and female Chaffinch; Greenfinch x 2; Great Tit;  2 x Blue Tit.

but then 2 Mallards appeared in the stream

they then headed for open water

where they remained for awhile

I counted 6 altogether as they flew away
