Ballachurry Reserve, 1st November, 2016 + Next Work Party date.

Reserve looking lovely in the autumn sunshine

I spent a lovely afternoon at Ballachurry on Tuesday with the sun warm on my back, admiring the autumn colours. The only downside was that the low sun makes it hard to see anything and I can't raise binoculars in the direction of the sun either!  So everything I recorded was looking in one direction only!

Birds:

SC209694  From the Hide - Moorhen, Wren, female Blackbird, Robin heard but not seen.

I saw this Hoverfly land on the other side of the leaf

and crept round to take its photo!

Another sort of Hoverfly on the Cushag ( Ragwort)

This male Chaffinch was enjoying the sunshine, same as me.

He was joined later by his missus

NEXT WORK PARTY:   19TH NOVEMBER, 10-1PM

A variety of tasks, so something for everyone - priorities are digging out the silt and cutting back vegetation from the main stream; renewing safety netting on the bridge. Bring your gloves & wellies.  Spades and shovels useful if you have them. As usual there will be refreshments provided.  Hope to see you there.
