Ballachurry Reserve, 7th August 2017 : a late posting.

I arrived at the Reserve on Monday, 7th August just around Midday - another bright and breezy day and a real pleasure to be out in the fresh air.

Birds:

SC209693 Wren;
SC209694 Willow Warbler & Blackbird heard but not seen; Dunnock; 3 x Goldfinch; Sedge Warbler
SC209694 ( from Hide) 3 x Willow Warblers flying up to catch insects and returning to same dead tree; Mistle (?)Thrush and both male and female Blackbirds pillaging rowan berries; Great tit
SC208694  2 x Goldfinch; Wren; juvenile Blackbird; Adult Reed Warbler. feeding juvenile (only second breeding record on IOM)
SC208695 juvenile Blackbird ( possibly the same one as above)

Butterflies:

SC208694 Unidentified White flying + Red Admiral over wild flower meadow area; Meadow Brown along path; Green Veined White near bridge;
SC209694 Red Admiral

Dragonflies:

SC209694  One large unidentified blue dragonfly over pond and smaller dragonfly flying near path junction ( possibly Common Darter)

Shieldbugs:

SC209695: 5 x Adult Gorse Shieldbugs + several instar nymphs
SC209694  4 x Hawthorn Shieldbug nymphs on Rowan
SC210694  3 x Sloe Bugs on Burdock.

Other:
