Some of last year's raking party in early December |
The Reserves Officer and team were able to cut the two meadow areas at Ballachurry yesterday, so we now need to rake them off and remove the cut vegetation to the compost heaps. This will be the focus of this Saturday's Work Party. A few barrows and rakes will be provided but if you are able to bring your own that would be very helpful. Cutting and removing the vegetation each year reduces the fertility of the soil which then encourages wild flowers over rank grasses.
Work gloves and appropriate footwear needed, of course, but refreshments will be provided. If raking is not your style there may be a few lopping/ pruning jobs on offer too!
Hope to see you there sometime between 10 and 1 ( whatever you can manage) New volunteers always made welcome.
If weather conditions don't look promising on Saturday please check the Blog before setting out to check the Work Party is going ahead.
