Ballachurry Reserve, 13th November 2018.

morning sunshine at Ballachurry Reserve
A bright and breezy morning at Ballachurry on Tuesday. Immediately through the gate at 9.30, I spotted some Blackbird activity in the trees ahead.  A sweep with the binoculars showed 2 male Blackbirds, and a female chaffinch all in the same tree. Too far away for my camera but good to see some birds about straight away. Here is my list:

SC209694  ( near bird hide) 2 x Magpies flying over.

SC209694 ( gorse boundary) Magpie; 2 x Robins heard simultaneously but not seen ( one each side of path)
SC208695 ( beehive loop) Magpie; 21 Wood pigeons flying over; Wren.

the silhouette in the tree turned out to be....

a female or juvenile Blackbird

this Wren was preening in the open fronted bird box

Good to know that the box is appreciated even if unused
as a Robin nest box to date.

ivy attracting the insects still

one day what I call the "beehive loop" will be known
as the Oak Grove!

Burdock certainly has an effective way of seed dispersal!
Several volunteers on Saturday found burs clinging to their
clothing during the Work Party.

my standard view of the bird hide

the Ballachurry Giant!

Have you spotted the new neighbours across the road yet?
I enjoyed my hour and a half at the Reserve.
