Ballachurry Reserve, September and October Work Parties.

So glad I didn't call a work party for today - the rain is belting down!

The next one will be next Saturday, 15th September.  I'm calling it a "loose ends work party" to clear all the odd jobs that have been building up recently but which we haven't had time to do at recent sessions. Then in October (6th is pencilled in, will confirm later) we can make a start on some more major projects.

The "loose ends" are as follows:

Finish the short section of stream deliberately left out last time
Possibly take out a little more silt near the narrow bridge to compost area
Get the remaining grids down on the pathway
Remove /tidy timber, wire and carpet round hide
Put up wattle fence panel using sturdy post found elsewhere on reserve recently; check/ repair remaining hurdles
Strim/ shear boardwalk edges again ( growing fast still)
Weed remaining section of boardwalk & possibly ramp too
Strim/ shear behind Bowman bench and under Noticeboard
Cut back grass under main gate which is growing back fast again.
Cut back willows and brambles along paths
Cut back brambles along damp meadow where they are threatening to march forward
Possibly barrow some of the Dropwort left on stream side to compost heap to improve look of the reserve
Possibly ( if time) brush down hide with stiff brush to get rid of loose material prior to painting

That's a hefty list of itty-bitty jobs to get through!

Spades, secateurs, shears, loppers. sickels, - much as last time really. Wellies and water proof gloves for stream work ( please remember to cover any skin abrasions)

10 till 1 or what you can manage in that time frame. Refreshments half time as usual.

Do hope to see a few of you there to get these niggly little jobs out of the way.

Best wishes,

Sheila
