Ballachurry Reserve, Work Party 7th April 2018

TASK OF THE DAY

TO SPREAD THIS WOOD CHIP ALONG THE MUDDY PATHS.

Well,  I said we needed teams to spread the wood chip last Saturday morning and 11 people duly came along! Ballachurry United, obviously!

Everybody got stuck in - some shovelling the chip into barrows, others transporting it to where it was most needed, and some raking it out along the paths. We swapped and changed places as one set of muscles became tired or we fancied a change of scene.

The whistle finally blew for half time (sorry, I'm getting carried away with this metaphor!) and we settled down for some welcome hot drinks and cake just as the first raindrops started to fall.

But, there was no stopping us! The rain was light (most of the time!)  and we worked on for another hour or so. Despite this concerted effort we didn't quite manage to finish the job so a few volunteers are meeting again on Wednesday afternoon from 2 p.m. to  move the rest. (Please see earlier post for details)

Well done everyone and a big thank you for all your efforts. Special mentions for Janet for baking a cake, and her son Jay who gave up part of his Easter break to lend a hand. Also thanks again to Chris Preston of RootstoShoots for donating the wood chip - please think of him if you need any tree surgery or landscaping done (rootstoshootsiom@gmail.com /07624 434421)

Here are the photos  of our great team.

Is Jay really standing on the barrow and Diane jumping in the air ?
They say the camera never lies!
